The Best Gift is Presence: A Christmas Eve Message from Director Jessie

It’s finally here. Christmas Eve.
If you are like most parents in San Jose, the last few weeks have been a blur of shopping, wrapping, baking, and coordinating schedules. You might be exhausted. You might be wondering if you did "enough."
Did I get the right toy? Did I move the Elf on the Shelf last night? Is the turkey thawed?
I want you to take a deep breath. Stop. Look at your child.
At Sunny Child Care, we see children every day. And I can tell you a secret: They don't care about the perfect bow on the gift. They don't care if the potatoes are slightly lumpy.
What they want—what they really crave—is you.
The Magic of "Now"
Tonight, I invite you to give your child the most expensive gift in the world: Your undivided attention.
Put down the phone. I know, you want to capture every cute moment for Instagram. But try to capture a few moments just for your own heart. Look at them with your eyes, not through a screen.
Let them play with the box. We laugh about it, but it’s true. Toddlers love the wrapping paper and the boxes as much as the gift. Don't rush them to "open the next one." Let them explore. Let them be little.
Embrace the mess. There will be paper on the floor. There will be crumbs. It’s okay. The mess means memories are being made.
A Wish for You
To all our wonderful families in the Bay Area, thank you for trusting us with your most precious treasures. Watching your children grow is the greatest gift we could ask for.
May your Christmas Eve be filled with less "perfect" and more "present." May your home be warm, your heart be light, and your coffee be strong tomorrow morning!
Merry Christmas!
